Istilah "perancangan kewangan" lazimnya agak "menggerunkan" sesetengah orang, terutama mereka yang berfikir bahawa perancangan kewangan adalah untuk mereka yang berpendapatan tinggi dan kaya sahaja. Tetapi, benarkah begitu? Jika tidak, apa sebenarnya? Secara amnya, perancangan kewangan membabitkan pandangan menyeluruh mengenai kedudukan kewangan sendiri yang meliputi pelbagai sudut pengurusan kewangan dan harta, dan kemudian melalui proses langkah demi langkah untuk mengatasi masalah kewangan serta mencapai matlamat kewangan.

Financial planning extends to what happens to our property and assets upon death. As death is a certainty, it is wise to always be prepared. Otherwise, not only are you going to endure psychological problems, you will be further burdened with financial problems.

People are exposed to different type and level of risks. Risk may be defined as "uncertainty about a financial loss from an exposure. Risks of loss are always associated with the risk of premature death, disability and also living too long.
